Newspaper Reporters Top Green Awards. (1 October, 1996)

Three newspaper environmental journalists have been singled out for accolades in the media category of the 1996 Green Trust Environment Awards. Tony Carnie of the Mercury in Natal, Eddie Koch of the Mail & Guardian and Andrea Weiss of The Cape Argus beat their colleagues in television and radio to emerge as finalists in the Sam Mabe Award category.

The winner will be announced next month and will receive R10 000. Convener of the awards Greg Laws said: 'What set these reporters apart was their immediate grasp of the issues, their ability to follow up on unfolding events and their pursuit of the outcomes.'
